Branding & Website for Melissa Balch Photography

Melissa contacted me to help her create a natural, bright brand + website that would highlight their amazing photography work and their deep focus on creating relationships with their clients. She was one of the kindest people I’ve ever (virtually) met with a true passion for the people she works with, and helping her translate that into a visual brand was a lot of fun.

During the strategy phase of her project, she identified that she wanted an earthy color palette and a logo that was simple, elegant, and inviting. She also knew she wanted an open, stunning homepage for the website.

We started with several logo concepts:

And an earthy, but light, color palette:

After weighing the strength and strategy behind each, Melissa chose the middle logo concept as her favorite. We made some small revisions, and then applied the color palette to the logo for the final look:

Next up, we developed her submark and collateral items according to her client workflow, and tied the branding experience together:

I love it when I get to work with clients on the full project (both branding AND website) because it allows us to bring everything together so cohesively and create an amazing brand experience for their customers. I had that opportunity with Melissa, so next we jumped into the website design phase.

Keeping in mind the simple, inviting, and earthy feel of her brand, and putting an emphasis on the beautiful photography work she (and her husband) do, we created a website with an open, eye-catching home page, multiple gallery portfolio pages, and relationship-building informational pages.

The addition of custom accents, buttons, and icons pulled everything together.
